How much sleep do you get? Have you noticed that some of the most successful people today only sleep 5-6 hours max. (Donald Trump only sleeps 4-5 hours night, there must be a reason behind this madness)
So this brings up the question, how much sleep should you get to keep healthy? This question has been argued time & time again. Some people/doctors suggest 8 hours for an adult, while others suggest 6 is more then enough. Either way, when you really start to think about it, do you really get more then 6 – 7 hours of sleep a night anyway? I don’t know about you, but I usually read a little, followed by some tossing and turning, and then finally I pass out. When morning comes around, I’m like a dead log not wanting to move. It usually takes at least 30 minutes to crawl out of the sheets. (all in all, that’s about 1-2 hours of wasted time just trying to fall asleep)
Anyway, this has led me to try changing my schedule around. I really want to make the most of my days and not waste any time. We have more then enough time to sleep when we’re dead. So here are some new rules I set for myself…
No matter what, my alarm is set to 6am and I’m on the computer by 6:30am latest. This is everyday, including weekends. There is no rule when I have to go to bed although I aim for midnight. If I get less then 6 hours sleep because I had a later then usual night….I’ll still get up in the morning at 6am and just go to sleep that night a little earlier when my eyes start shutting on me. (But no matter what, the alarm is always set to 6am)
Want to know something? I feel great with this new schedule. I think the quality of sleep I get is also MUCH better now. I’m so exhausted by the time midnight approaches, my body goes into a deep sleep the second I lay my head down. When 6am rolls around, my body feels so well rested that I jump out of bed ready to start my day…no “dead log” syndrome. BUT WAIT, that’s not all….I have also seen a HUGE increase in the amount of work I accomplish in a day. I don’t know if it’s the extra time, or the fact that there are fewer distractions at 6am, but whatever it is, it’s working.
Now think about this for a min…
If you were to add just one hour more to your working day, that equals 9 full 40 hour weeks at the end of the year. How much do you currently earn per hour? How much more would you earn with this new additional time added to your day? Do the math: (Hourly pay) x 40 hours x 9 weeks = ? Not bad eh?
Conclusion: Sleep less, feel better and make more money.

While it can be ’somehow’ true, I think the lack of sleep can be as harmful as well. I mean come on, you can’t concentrate on your online business when you’re not feeling you’ve taken a complete rest..
Hi Melvin, that is exactly why I mentioned and follow this set of rules:
There is no rule when I have to go to bed although I aim for midnight. If I get less then 6 hours sleep because I had a later then usual night….I’ll still get up in the morning at 6am and just go to sleep that night a little earlier when my eyes start shutting on me.
Basically, if I am feeling tired, I will go to sleep a little earlier. It is not set in stone that you should only get 5-6 hours every signle night…its just a guideline. The important thing is that you always wake up at the same time.
Either way, I’m finding 6 hours of sleep to be more then enough for me.
I think there’s 2 ways to this. First of all if you have a lack of sleep it will have an impact on your work and concentration. Second point is if you sleep less you can get more work done.
To be honest, i mostly get around 6 hours a sleep as well. But on weekends it’s whole different story as i lets just say get more then enough hours sleep lol!
Nice post
I really liked this post. I think I will give this a try
Wouldn’t hurt to test it out… heck, I’d try anything to be more productive in the day.
